ABOUT ME
I am a dedicated public servant with a strong commitment to creating positive change in our community. With a deep-rooted passion for public service, I intend to address the pressing issues that impact our students daily lives. By focusing on academics and student success, our schools can once again return to the business of student learning.
Before retiring, I served for 20 years as a Senior Systems Analyst, Project Manager for the City of Los Angeles Police Department, previously employed as a bank Customer Service Manager and Senior Operations Officer for 15 years.
My time as a Youth Director with Youth for Christ/Campus Life has given me direct experience in fostering student growth, while dealing with the myriad of issues that impact our children's lives...at home and in school.
In my community, I've always found time to volunteer at my local church, whether it be as a guitarist for our church band, leading Sunday school classes, driving the church bus to events, and even being our videographer.
No matter what one's service is, I think it's important for us to give back and help make our community a better place for our children and .....their children.
KEY ISSUES
Education
I intend to make this my top priority and will be committed to governing as a member of the school board ensuring that every child has access to a quality education...period. By advocating for equitable resources and innovative teaching methods, I am dedicated to empowering our next generation of leaders in their educational journey.
Career Pathways
I support trade school options that might better align with a student's preferred career choice, including those in the technology fields which are having profound impacts in our everyday lives, both in our today and tomorrow. There are many good options in the trades that are a great choice for students whose learning method, or interests, are different of those who seek a traditional college education.
Diversity
We must all celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures and perspectives within our community. I value diversity and inclusivity in our schools and recognize that the strength in our differences, will only add to each child's whole achievement as a student and a person. Every student deserves a voice and every student should be provided the environment to share cultural and ethnic perspectives.
School Environment
I want our schools to be a safe, secure and dedicated academic environment that affords every student the opportunity to exceed the limits of their learning expectations. While our schools are expected to be an extension of the home, and where students spend most of their daylight hours, they are not a substitute for what the family home provides in value systems and parenting. That's the job for moms and dads.
Our Teachers
Next to parents, teachers might have the biggest impact and influence on our children....which makes them pretty important. An educators life is challenging for many reasons inside and outside the classroom and requires our full support. To help them, moms and dads must do their part at home so the teachers can do their part in the classroom. It's a team effort, and without fully supporting academic success, our children will pay the consequences where we fall short in our respective roles.
